I love to write- whether it is in my personal journal, in a scrapbook, or in one of my kid's memoirs.
There is also Facebook, this blog, and two novels I'm currently working on.
Writing is one of those things that I do for me. Most of my day is spent serving my family. (Don't get me wrong, I love it but I do need something just for me!)
My day starts in the kitchen, cleaning up any last minute mess from the night before or unloading the dishwasher so I can repeat the process all over again. Then, I prepare breakfast for my family, usually in stages. Matt and I eat first, then I get my sleepy girl up and moving. When she is done in the bathroom, then my son takes his turn. I prep my hubby's water bottle and protein shake for the day. Then, breakfast for the kids and sending Daddy off to work. While the kids eat, I usually chit-chat with them while doing more kitchen work or sneak away to check my email.
The day continues this way with household chores, lunch, dinner, kid activities, and this fall will include home-schooling. Again, I am not complaining. It is such a joy to serve my family this way. Being able to stay home relieved a lot of stress on our whole family in so many ways.
But when I have a free afternoon. An afternoon without appointments, grocery shopping or library visits- it is my time. My kids love it because I let them watch movies while I disappear into a world I've created. Sure, I'm just in the office, they can come running if they need me but I'm somewhere else living out a tale of adventure. When working on a novel, my fingers fly across the keyboard revealing to me the twists and turns in my story.
Journaling is therapeutic for me. I believe that Alzheimer's is one of the worst diseases, robbing the elderly of precious memories. If nothing else, my story is written in my journals so that I can re-read it or perhaps someone can read it to me.
Secretly, I have always wished that my GranMa has written all of her grandchildren a special letter for us to read when she passes. (Which I pray is YEARS away!) After feeling so hopeful for that, I decided to keep a hand-written book to each of my kids. The books began even before they were adopted and have continued throughout our journey. There are many things I'm sure I've missed along the way but I try to write down funny stories and special times for them to recall.
I hope that everyone finds something to do that brings happiness. Not fame and fortune, but happiness.
For now, it is 2:20 in the afternoon and I have a date with Earl Gray and my laptop.

Do-Over
How many of us have longed for a 'do-over' in life? I think we all have at some point.
I remember as a child, my sister and I would yell, "DO- OVER" if we swung a putter and missed the golf ball at Tiny Town. As a teenager, scratching when playing pool- meant I got a 'do-over', right? How about the thousands of times, I've let words escape my mouth that can never be retrieved...
Thankfully, God's mercies are new every morning.

Thankfully, God's mercies are new every morning.
Lamentations3:22-23
Because of the Lord’s
great mercies we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They
are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
So, when I awoke this morning- God gave me a 'do-over'. A new day to seek HIS face.
This blog entry in itself is a do-over. I've wanted to start blogging again for some time. The truth of the matter is, once we dove into our adoption journey and I joined Facebook, my poor little blog was pushed aside. Now, I'm digging it out of the cobwebs and wondered if I should start a new blog or pick up where I left off. I opted for a do-over instead of a start-over. Sure, I could delete the previous posts and keep the same blog name but for now I'll leave it all here. Picking up where I left off; a do-over.

Where have I been?
Hello Blog-world!
Well, since Matt and I have been on the adoption journey and now that I am on Facebook, my poor little blog has been neglected!
So here I am playing catch-up again!
Ok, Matt and I are now certified to be foster, foster to adopt, or adopt parents! We are excited and we are just waiting for God to bring the right kids into our lives! Preparation has been fun! Thanks to my friend Becky, we have furniture waiting in the last bedroom! She gave us a matching twin bed and dresser that are white and natural wood- I love it! So now both kiddo rooms are furnished! YAY!
The week before last we enjoyed vacation in Williamsburg with Lewis and Lindsey- fun time!
Other than becoming certified, I can't think of any other life-changing events that have happened! I have thought of a couple stories to write about on here over the past few weeks but now that I am on here, they escape me!
Matt and I baked our first pie yesterday, perhaps, I should write about that!

Sweet Little Angel
Here is a poem that I wrote for a friend who had a miscarraige:
Sweet Little Angel
There’s a sweet little angel in heaven above
That knows your name and knows your love
With a big sunny smile and locks of gold
A happy heart and a laugh that’s bold
Joyfulness is the dance, yes, it must be
Of one who runs and plays so happily
So do not be sad for the wait that’s long
Your angel is watching you be so strong
You will share strength with others some day
Who have lost all hope and have gone astray
You may be the one to let others know
That God loves them so don’t let go
His love is holding you and an angel in his hand
His strength is secure when you cannot stand
When you are weary and need to rest
Cling to the Father who loves you the best
Keep your faith close and hold it tight
So that your yoke is easy and your burden light
Believe that God in His power has spoken your love
To a child that is waiting for you in heaven above
Sweet Little Angel
There’s a sweet little angel in heaven above
That knows your name and knows your love
With a big sunny smile and locks of gold
A happy heart and a laugh that’s bold
Joyfulness is the dance, yes, it must be
Of one who runs and plays so happily
So do not be sad for the wait that’s long
Your angel is watching you be so strong
You will share strength with others some day

His strength is secure when you cannot stand
When you are weary and need to rest
Cling to the Father who loves you the best
Keep your faith close and hold it tight
So that your yoke is easy and your burden light
Believe that God in His power has spoken your love
To a child that is waiting for you in heaven above

Long Time- No Write
Well, It's been a while since I've written on here...
I'll play a little catch-up, Matt and I are underway with our training for adoption! We should be certified by the end of May! -We are very excited!
We renovated our den- that was fun! I'll have to post some pics of that later on!
Today, I had the carpet buy come patch a place that Petra had dug up way back when. She taught me that berber carpet is awful for people with pets! Petra, by the way, is doing well, she is living with my sister's boyfriends' mom and is living the good life!
We got Sunny Puppy an electric fence. It's one of the ones that you can travel with, it plugs in the wall and you can set the desired circumference around your house that he is allowed to stay within. He learned it very quickly, that's for sure. It gives him a warning beep before he crosses the little white flags in the yard which is nice.
I am now on Facebook! I have joined the world's largest time waster! At one point, I just had to turn off the computer to step away from it! I usually hit ignore anytime anyone sends me a lil' green plant or redneck gift or pokes me or whatever so I'm not wasting time with that. I like it to keep up with everyone!
Ok, I s'pose that's enough catch-up for now! I have tons to do on my Friday! Smiles, dmt

Most Special Gift
We celebrated Christmas with my parents and my sister and Paul today. My sister gave me the most special gift! First of all, you must know that she and I are both 'die-hard' Audio Adrenaline fans even though they are in 'retirement'. The second thing you need to know is that two years ago I made an album for her at Christmas called "Over 100 Childhood Memories"- which made her cry a lot! (I think she's wanted to get me back ever since then!)
Now that you are brought up-to-speed, here is what happened! I had run to Food Lion to get some Orange soda for Paul (his favorite) then I rushed home because I remembered that I had left the house with an apple cake in the oven!!! Matt was home but didn't know the cake was done! So I flew back up the driveway and my sister and Paul were already here. I jumped out of the car, ran inside and took the cake our of the oven(just in time!) and then went to bring in the sodas!
My sister was waiting for my attention! Then she asked if I had a minute so we could get on the computer! She told me to go online to lyrics.com and play the video for Audio A's 'Ocean Floor'. I had never seen the video although I know the words by heart! The song talks about how God takes all of our sin away and casts them on the ocean floor. In the video, people from all walks of life find seashells in their path and they take them to the ocean and cast them in as a symbol reminding them that God has separated their sins as far away as the ocean floor! Then she presents me with 'the gift', a HUGE conch shell with this engraved:
YOUR SINS ARE FORGOTTEN
THEY'RE ON THE BOTTOM
OF THE OCEAN FLOOR
Of course, I busted out crying and gave her a big hug! Well, a bunch of big sobbing hugs! This is a most special gift that I will always cherish! But she is the real treasure! A sister's love is immeasurable! She is the greatest gift that my parents ever gave me- a sissy-poo to be there through all the good, fun, hard, sad, and tough times!

A Dog's Life!
Tonight, I went to put my puppy to bed when I found him already in bed! Isn't he precious! I said a quick prayer that he'd stay just like that until I got back with the camera! The soccer ball is the first toy we ever got him and took it with us when we picked him up and rubbed his mom and siblings' scent on it. It has long since been washed but he still loves it! The purple dog was a gift to Sunny from my friend Lori!

Okay, here is a picture from Thanksgiving Day to show you just how much Sunny LOVES his toys! Mom picks them all up and puts them in his basket and then he pulls them all right back out again! Although, I am thankful that he knows what is his and what is moms!

Here is some pampering if I ever saw it! Freshly bathed and dried and now getting furminated! We should have taken a picture of the small dog that was removed from him!!!!!
